Shoppers in the UK and Ireland spent a record £1.33 billion on MSC certified fish and seafood in 2023, up 5% from the previous year. Volumes of MSC-labelled products also increased, rising to 154,543 tonnes – 1% higher than the preceding year.
Of this volume, 15,390 tonnes of MSC labelled tuna was sold in the UK last year, a 78% rise from the preceding year and setting a new record for MSC certified tuna sales in the UK. 25% of UK retail tuna sales are now MSC certified.
