The Sustainable Seafood Awards Australia recognise pioneering organisations and individuals making a significant contribution to ensure we have plentiful seafood for future generations. The annual awards are run by the international non-profit the Marine Stewardship Council in partnership with the Aquaculture Stewardship Council.
Eligible individuals and organisations may enter multiple awards to the following categories:
Award category:
- Community champion - MSC
- Best supermarket - MSC
- Best product - MSC
- Best product - ASC
- Responsible seafood importer - ASC
- Responsible seafood exporter – ASC
Nomination category:
- Lifetime achievement - MSC and ASC
Key dates
- Monday 18 January 2021: entries open
- Friday 19 February 2021: entries close
- Judging takes place
- Monday 8 March 2021: award winners announced and can start public communication during Sustainable Seafood Week Australia
Last year, Coles, ALDI, Woolworths, Taronga Zoo and Austral Fisheries were amongst those named in the Sustainable Seafood Awards Australia 2020.
Anne Gabriel from the Marine Stewardship Council and Duncan Leadbitter from the Aquaculture Stewardship Council said, “This will be the fifth annual Sustainable Seafood Awards in Australia to recognise the remarkable efforts made to help safeguard the future of our seafood.
“We are excited to honour these individuals and groups that help us to have a future filled with fish, which is a mission that everyone can get behind by purchasing seafood products featuring the blue MSC or green ASC fish tick labels.”
