The MSC set standards for sustainable fishing and traceability in the seafood supply chain. Fisheries and supply chain companies can get certified to these standards to provide assurance and support our vision of oceans teeming with life.
The MSC Standards meet international best practice guidelines for certification and ecolabelling. The Standards are developed through consultation with industry, scientists, conservationists, experts and stakeholders.
The MSC Standards
The MSC Fisheries Standard
The Fisheries Standard measures the sustainability of wild-capture fisheries. The Standard is open to all wild-capture fisheries except those using poisons or explosives.
The MSC Chain of Custody Standard
The Chain of Custody Standard ensures the MSC blue fish tick label is only displayed on seafood that's traceable to an MSC certified sustainable fishery.
The ASC-MSC Seaweed Standard
The joint ASC-MSC Seaweed Standard rewards environmentally sustainable and socially responsible seaweed production. It is open to cultured and wild harvest seaweed operations worldwide.
