Coles has been named the MSC's Best Sustainable Seafood Supermarket 2025 for making the most significant commitment to MSC certified sustainable seafood of any Australian retailer during 2024. Coles have won this award seven times since 2017.

Coles recognises that there are potential environmental impacts associated with seafood production, which may include overfishing, by-catch and illegal fishing. 

Coles' Responsibly Sourced Seafood Program is supported by its Responsibly Sourced Seafood Policy and Supplier Requirements, which covers both farmed (aquaculture) and wild-caught seafood for Coles Own Brand products.

Coles' Policy and Requirements include:

• the use of independent third-party certifications and independent assessments.
• continuous review of the Coles Responsibly Sourced Seafood Program to ensure these risks are mitigated for applicable Coles Own Brand products.
