Congratulations to the student winners of our recent poetry competition, Sia and Simarjot from Balcatta Senior High School.
Each student received a $100 voucher to Adreno Dive store.
Highly Commended poems:
- Zoe, St Mary Star of the Sea
- Trang, Braybrook College
- Amber, Balcatta Senior High School.
Poem #1 - Sia, Balcatta Senior High School WA
In the ocean's deep and endless blue,
Where waves embrace and secrets brew,
Beneath the sun’s soft, dancing light,
Life unfolds in the depths of night.
Yet, as the currents shift and sigh,
A silent plea rides the waves’ high:
“More fish,” whispers the sea’s embrace,
“Restore my depths, renew this space.”
In coral realms and kelp’s green sway,
Let life flourish in the light of day.
For the ocean's heart beats in the fish,
In their dance, the sea finds its wish.
Poem #2 - Simarjot, Balcatta Senior High School WA
Deep, deep down
in the ocean,
Fishes are found
along with a beautiful sound,
Many creatures are together
but will not be there forever.
In the ocean its mysterious,
So much to explore.
So much to see.
Although you must beware
the creatures can declare
who to fight
who to save
it's up to them, not up to you.
The ocean is big
so don't go too far away
you may find a dead end
you may find a way
the ocean is precious
as well as your place
the creatures are here
so don't ruin their stay.
