Sustainable Seafood Week in Australia is an annual moment championing action to protect fish and marine life. We celebrate the fisheries, brands, retailers, chefs, and restaurants in Australia that support our mission to end overfishing and ensure we have seafood forever.

When is Sustainable Seafood Week?

Sustainable Seafood Week is a campaign run by the Marine Stewardship Council and the Aquaculture Stewardship Council.

Australia's next Sustainable Seafood Week is from 7-13 April 2025.

Choose certified seafood

When you make a super seafood choice, you're choosing seafood that comes from an ASC-certified farm or an MSC-certified fishery. Super seafood is certified to the world's best seafood standards for people and the planet. Look for the green ASC and blue MSC labels to be sure.

Super Seafood

Why is it important to protect seafood?

Australians love seafood. Popular species include sustainable tuna, sustainable salmon and sustainable prawns. We all want fish forever and how we shop can help.

With a growing world population, it’s important we protect the future of seafood, for people and the planet. The Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) and the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) run a certification and labelling scheme.

When you see the green fish tick label on a seafood product, you can be sure it is traceable back to a responsible fish farm. When you see the blue fish tick label on a seafood product, it can be traced back to a sustainable fishery.
